Indonesian Heart Association and APSC Board Align Strategic and Logistical Preparations for Upcoming Regional Congress

MUNICH — Representatives from the Indonesian Heart Association (IHA / PERKI) met with the Asian Pacific Society of Cardiology (APSC) board to establish core operational, compliance, and financial frameworks for the upcoming joint congress initiative, ensuring a seamless experience for both regional and local cardiovascular professionals.

Strict Academic & Venue Compliance Standards
To adhere strictly to global scientific and healthcare compliance guidelines, both organizations emphasized structuring a high-caliber academic program housed in a dedicated conference setting that prioritizes clinical education and scientific exchange. Following APSC Yokohama in April 2027, the APSC board will conduct an official site inspection of the chosen venue.

Expanding Regional Reach & Financial Alignment
The upcoming gathering anticipates welcoming more than 3,000 international delegates. To support this scale, IHA and APSC agreed on a streamlined central sponsorship model, categorizing global/regional support under APSC management and local support through IHA. Under a preliminary agreement, IHA will provide the official venue hostings while APSC’s professional event organizer oversees congress logistics.

Integrated Portal & Accessible Local Registration
To streamline access, a single digital portal will serve all attendees. International participants will register directly via the APSC system, while domestic delegates will register through the ASMIHA channel. This dual-route portal ensures local physicians receive special national rate access while gaining complete entry to the full APSC scientific program.

Indonesian Heart Association (IHA) and American Heart Association (AHA) Explore Strategic Collaboration to Advance Cardiovascular Care and Training

MUNICH — Building on the momentum of its July 2026 scientific gathering—which convened over 2,500 local delegates and 17 international experts—the Indonesian Heart Association (IHA / PERKI) met with representatives from the American Heart Association (AHA) to establish long-term strategic initiatives aimed at expanding clinical training, fellowship pathways, and hospital quality certifications in Indonesia.

Scaling Training & National ACLS Competition
Preparations are underway for ASMIHA 2027 at the Jakarta Convention Center, targeting over 3,000 attendees. As part of this expansion, IHA plans to scale the “Training Village” into an intensive, multi-day practical workshop program. Additionally, a National ACLS Competition is under evaluation, aiming to bring together participants from all 42 PERKI local branches to demonstrate clinical simulation proficiency under official guidelines.

Direct Partnership on ACLS/BLS & HeartCode
To ensure high-standard, accessible emergency cardiovascular care training across the Indonesian archipelago, IHA requested direct collaboration with the AHA regarding ACLS/BLS training and HeartCode implementation. Discussions focused on establishing affordable pricing structures for local general practitioners, executing Train-The-Trainer (TOT) programs for local faculty, and distributing simulation mannequins to provincial centers to minimize domestic travel burdens for trainees.

Joint Educational Series & Hospital Certifications
Ahead of ASMIHA 2027, IHA and AHA will launch a joint webinar series focusing on chest pain and heart failure hospital certifications. The sessions will showcase local Indonesian cardiovascular data—including outcomes from the Siloam Hospital Group and the National Cardiovascular Center Harapan Kita (NCCHK)—alongside regional Asia-Pacific best practices. In parallel, IHA plans to engage the Indonesian Ministry of Health to support public hospitals seeking quality improvement and accreditation.

Expanding International Fellowships
To address the critical nation-wide shortage of cardiovascular specialists—currently standing at approximately 2,500 cardiologists and 400 interventional specialists for a population of 280 million—IHA is actively pursuing clinical research and observational fellowship opportunities in the United States. Supported by Ministry of Health scholarships, these programs will offer advanced training in electrophysiology, pediatric cardiology, and heart failure care.
