PERKI 24th ASMIHA Coverage: Opening Ceremony

JAKARTA --- Melodious strains of the song Indonesia Raya and Mars PERKI by orchestra and choir Radityo Prakoso, MD's team, symposium Annual Indonesian Scientific Meeting of the Heart Association (ASMIHA) 24th was opened. ASMIHA attended by 1500 participants of the general practitioners, specialists heart, and other specialists from around the Indonesia. ASMIHA 2015 held by Perhimpunan Dokter Spesialis Kardiovaskular Indonesia (PERKI), in cooperation with various internal associations of cardiologist such as the European Society of Cardiology, American College of Cardiology, Asian Pacific Society of Cardiology, and ASEAN Federation of Cardiology.

This year, ASMIHA also organizes Young Investigator Award which was followed by 135 participants from medical school in Indonesia and 12 international medical school as a token of appreciation for young researchers in the cardiovascular field. In the opening ceremony, participants listened to a speech from Antonia Anna Lukito, MD, PhD as chairman of 24th ASMIHA, Anwar Santoso, MD, PhD as PERKI President, and drg. Tini Suryanti Suhandi, M.Kes, as Staff Expert Minister for Finance and Empowerment Society, representing the Minister Health of the Republic of Indonesia.

As an introduction, Antonia Anna Lukito, MD, PhD states that ASMIHA held to facilitate continuing education for physicians, especially in the field cardiovascular. In his speech, Anwar Santoso, MD, PhD said that this symposium aims to raise awareness in preventing cardiovascular disease as the major cause of death in Indonesia. drg. Tini Suryanti Suhandi, M.Kes stressed to the entire health practitioners to work together with the government and the whole components of society in controlling cardiovascular risk factors due to the increasing number of cases of cardiovascular disease in Indonesia. Besides, controlling risk factors goes along Global Action Plan for the Prevention and Control of Non-Communicable Disease endorsed by WHO.
